Alternatively, where your debts are short term or less serious, a debt repayment plan may be a better way forward for you.
'Your best option could be an IVA, where you make a monthly payment based on the amount you can afford, and which could, once agreed, freeze interest charges, stop creditors harassing you and set a tailored monthly payment amount over an agreed fixed period, usually 5 years.
I feel like I'm in a hopeless situation, can you really help?Debt becomes a problem when you are unable to settle your credit commitments on time. In most scenarios the seriousness of your debt problem is determined by the amount of debt you owe. However, this isn't always the case and getting confidential advice by talking to an unbiased and professional debt expert, such as ourselves, is crucial is solving your problem. The worst thing you can do is ignore the situation and hope it gets better. So the sooner you call us the quicker you could find yourself in control.
There are four main solutions to resolve your debt problem:
Sometimes the answer to an unsecured debt problem is a re-mortgage or other loan. Depending on your unique financial position, and your credit rating, either a re-mortgage or consolidation loan could be the answer that you are looking for. Always speak to a professional debt expert when you're considering further borrowing to make sure it is right for you and that you can afford it. When borrowing, always remember that your debts increase. This is a fact of life and there is no escaping from it.
If further borrowing is not the solution for you, you cannot obtain a loan, or you recognise that you have a debt problem and need to sort your debts out rather than borrowing more money, then the 3 remaining options are as follows:
- What you can do if you have debts over £15,000
- What you can do if you have debts between £5,000 and £15,000
- What you can do if your debts are less than £5,000
